Dear West Coast Swimming Club Members,

I am writing to congratulate all swimmers and their families on their participation in the State Country Championships that were held in Gawler last weekend. All associated with our Club acted in a manner that presented West Coast in a positive and fair manner. Individual performances in the pool were great to witness and the willingness and professionalism of  parents to support Swimming SA by time keeping and officiating was noted not only by us but by others at the carnival.

I was proud to see our team captains demonstrate leadership throughout the carnival. This was evident from 'Superfish' right through to the carnival's conclusion. The whole senior swimmer group were prepared to look after the younger swimmers, making the marshalling of swimmers, the swimmer's parade, and medal presentations run smoothly. The cheering of our swimmers was positive, inclusive of all and within the spirit of the 'Swimmer's Code' pronounced at the opening ceremony.

On the last evening, the Club had dinner together. The following people were specially recognised for their work in preparation and/or at the State Country Carnival:

Carol Veldhuyzen : (Coach), Damien Lambert : (Team Manager), Sonia Ford : (Website and media), Louise Lynch : (volunteer coach at Ceduna), Jane Nelligan : (volunteer coach), Marianne Allen : (volunteer coach)Anne-Marie Hammond : (Countries organiser), Brett Howell (: Countries organiser)

This Countries was my family's first and it was a great experience and we look forward to Murray Bridge in January 2014.If you would like to make contact with me regarding any aspect of our swimming club, please do not hesitate.

Kind Regards,
Todd George

President West Coast Swimming Club

Thanks Todd, we totally agree,

It was also our families first (of many, hopefully) country championships. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. It's a great way for the kids to participate "on the big stage" but also an excellent way to get to know the other families on a social level.

All the swimmers competed so well & encouraged each other on at every turn.

Hope to see you all again for many more

Matt Hamnett
